A slight twist. Three questions, back-to-back, all related. All you need to do is tell us what the variables A through K stand for.
Anyone who gets the whole set gets a bonus point. All questions remain open for 3 more days!
This post has 3 variables (A, B, C). Get all 3 right to get 1 point :-)
Eastern-european logician A invented B around 1920 in order to simplify sentences used in propositional calculus. B remained in use largely in logic and didn’t see much interest in mainstream arithmetic. Despite this, a “reversed†version of B became popular with some electronic devices, notably those from company C! The devices from C, especially, have become iconic and gained a cult following. (Though many people consider them to be merely a curiosity, C’s devices have some very advanced arithmetic in them and a Turing Award winning UCBerkeley maths/CS prof was involved in their design!).

Happy New Year folks!
We wish you a very bright and awesome 2011! 2010 was a lot of fun for us and hope you had fun too.

Of late we’ve had a huge number of questions pouring in from all corners. It’s really great to see this kind of interest in tech quizzing in general and Boiledbeans especially! To keep the momentum up, we’ve decided to host a guest question marathon. For the next few days (till we run out of questions in the queue) we are going to post only questions that you’ve asked.
So, here’s the first of the marathon, from shenoyvarun86 -
.
What’s this all about?
Would you like to keep the marathon going for longer? Send in your questions to [email protected]! There’s a trophy to be had for each guest question you send us! Also, if you’d like us to link to your blog or some site, indicate that along with your question and we’ll definitely add a link (Spreading the love on V-day? Har!)

Inspired by “Numbers Stations” ( and other Sci-fi movies I have been watching lately), Boiledbeans will transmit encrypted data starting at 2000 PST on November 29, 2009 ( 0930 IST on November 30, 2009) .
You can reach the transmission here

Your goal is to decode the transmission and post the answer here.
The first one to decode correctly will receive 5 points and a trophy!
This transmission is fairly simple and easy to decode and anybody else who decodes it will get 2 points. We will accept answers for decoded transmissions until 2 days after we receive the first correct answer.
Update: The transmission has begun!

Congratulations are in order to Dibyo who recently reached (and crossed) the 500 point mark! Great work Mr D!
To mark and celebrate this, we contacted him for a question and he replied. However, he’s not sent one question, he’s sent nine. Yes, nine! And they’re not just “direct” questions, they are of a special format.
Dibyo’s 500 point quiz is a Stage-3 format quiz!
Format:
So, the format of this quiz: there are a total of nine questions. The answers to the first three questions are connected to each other (say C-1). The answers to the next three are connected (say C-2) and the final three are connected (say C-3). Further, C-1, C-2, and C-3 are connected, and this connect is the so-called “stage-3”.
Rules, points:
We will be posting three questions per day (all 3 questions in one post). So on each day, you can potentially win 4 points (1 for each answer + 1 point for the connect of the day). If you can get the stage-3 answer on day 1, you get 3 points. If you can get it on day 2 you get 2 points, and a single point for getting it on day 3. No negative marks for wrong guesses. One guess every day max. Please post your stage-3 guesses and as SEPARATE comments from your daily answers!
So, without further ado, here’s Set 1:
