These are the flown covers of the Apollo 11 mission, complete with Armstrong,Collins and Aldrin signing them and the mission’s insignia. The crew also left behind some of these for their families,in case they didn’t return from the mission, known as insurance covers.

    It’s called an “insurance cover”.
Like other postal covers; but, signed prior to release by the Apollo 11 astronauts as insurance for their families, should they not return.
Hard to imagine that part of the prep for the flight included taking the time out to do this.

  13. a postcard signed on the moon?

  14. life insurance covers
written and postmarked by the astronauts as an insurance in case they didn’t return
they’re families could sell them in case they didn’t return

  15. Postcards signed by Apollo 11 astronauts before the machine. This would earn some money for their family if the mission failed.
