   A “redshirt” is a stock character in fiction who dies soon after being introduced. In this FoxTrot comic, the gingerbread is about to be devoured – and hence the “redshirt” :D

   Redshirt is a term used to refer to the characters who wear red uniforms and quite often killed in Star Trek. All the gingerbread men are going to die.
