I’ve got the whole world in my hands…

What is the (superficial) connection?

Cracked by everyone.

Answer:

The IBM 5100 had something called “PALM” – Put All Logic in Microcode. ┬áThe team in the 2nd pic were the founders of Palm computing inc.

Just the name connects them.

Points given to other plausible superficial connections as well.

There’s probably a number of good answers, but: The IBM 5100 at the left had a PALM processor, and the team at the right built the Palm Pilot.
