The Elo Rating system in chess is becoming quite popular among the gaming community – with many online multiplayer games also starting to use Elo ratings e.g. RA3 above.

    Connection?
I hope there’s not some other image yet to be posted.
If the connection is between images it would be “live rankings”.

If the connection is specific to the list in the first pic…
It’s part of the current image from the front page of:
http://chess.liverating.org/ and “connects” chess players by their world ranking.

Both red alert and chess use a form of Arpad Elo’s mechanism of rating – Elo ranking system.

These are FIDE and Command & COnquer:RA game rankings respectively. But what is the connection? Is it Russian players are collectively the top country in both?

After thinking about it more, I’ll have to add Elo Ranking to my guess. It’s a bit geekier and both of the examples use it as a ranking methodology.

    Connection is “Elo Rating system”.

The Elo-rating system assigns every player with a numerical score which indicates playing strength.

Elo rating system was invented as an improved chess rating system (pic 1 – chess live ranking based on elo)

Now-a-days its also used as a rating system for multiplayer competition in a number of computer games(pic 2 – Command & Conquer ladder ranked games)

The Elo rating system is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in two-player games such as chess. It is named after its creator Arpad Elo, a Hungarian-born American physics professor.
