Answer:

William Moulton Marston. He invented the systolic test as a way to guess if people were lying or not. This, in turn, helped in the invention of the Polygraph.

Marston was the creator of Wonder Woman, and Wonder Woman’s lasso-of-truth is based off his test.

He also invented Wonder Woman.

William Moulton Marston aka Charles Marston. He is a psychiatrist who suggested the use of blood pressure as part of polygraph tests. He is most famous for creating Wonder Woman. The second visual shows her with the “lasso of truth” that forces its captives to speak no lies. The lasso is clearly inspired by Marston and (one of) his wife’s work on lie detectors.

    William Moulton Marston (Charles Moulton)
Or, alternatively, his wife Elizabeth Holloway Marston and/or their bisexual, live-in lover, Olive Byrne.

  6. Aravindh

    Dr. William Moulton Marston
He is credited as the creator of the systolic blood-pressure test used in an attempt to detect deception, which became one component of the modern polygraph. He is also known for creating the character Wonder Woman

  9. 1st pic is of a Polygraph (lie detector) test.

The comic book character, Wonder Woman, by William Marston (and influenced by Elizabeth Marston[11][12]) carries a magic lasso (lasso of truth or something) which was modelled upon the pneumograph (breathing monitor) test.

  10. Xanda

William Moulton Marston, creator of wonder woman and inventor of the systolic blood pressure measuring thingy used in polygraph for lie detection.

He is the inventor of the device in (1) (i.e. Polygraph) and ((2) i.e. Wonder Woman))

  13. William Moulton Marston
Inventor of polygraph and creator of the Comic book character Wonder Woman.

  14. Kaiser Soze

    Dr. William Moulton Marston

  15. wonder woman’s rope acts like a polygraph machine on steroids, if she wraps it around you it makes you speak the truth

  16. also the creator of wonder woman is credited with the polygraph test

    William Moulton Marston

he invented the systolic bp test, which helped make the polygraph, and ww’s lasso is actually a polygraph.

    He also invented Wonder Woman.

  21. Hari

William Marston. His PhD thesis “Systolic blood pressure symptoms of deception and constituent mental states” described his use of sphygmomanometer and galvanometer for detecting deception in a subject being questioned (however, the techniques for lie detection were known earlier – so he is *not* the “inventor” of the polygraph)

    He also created Wonder Woman.

The Connection is Dr.William Moulton Marston also known by the pen name “Charles Moulton”.

1). Modern Polygraph – he created the systolic blood-pressure test used in an attempt to detect deception,
which became one component of the modern polygraph
2). Wonder Woman – he created the comic character “wonder woman” which later became part of DC Comics.

The Lasso of Truth is a fictional weapon wielded by DC Comics superheroine Wonder Woman, Princess Diana of Themyscira. It is usually referred to as the Magic Lasso or Golden Lasso and forces anyone it captures to obey and tell the truth.
William Moulton Marston created Wonder Woman but he also worked, in the period during and after World War I, on the systolic blood-pressure test used to detect deception while he was a doctoral student in the psychology department at Harvard University. This was the predecessor of the polygraph test.

Wonder Woman’s Magic Lasso or Golden Lasso was the direct result of their research.[5][2] In noting the correlation between it and the systolic blood-pressure test, Geoffry Bunn states:
“ Anyone caught in the lasso found it impossible to lie. And because Wonder Woman used it to extract confessions and compel obedience, the golden lasso was of course nothing less than a lie detector […] Like the lie detector upon which it was modelled, Wonder Woman’s Golden Lasso produced truth – and by implication justice and freedom too – through coercion. [6]

  27. note – just to clarify – The who in the connect is William Marston the “father of the polygraph”

  28. or possibly his wife who’s the inspiration behind wonder woman (see prev comment)
