Answer:

Konrad Lorenz – discovered the process of imprinting. He’s being followed by geese – the geese in the pic imprinted on him (or rather his boots) after they were born and now they think he’s their mother.

Konrad Lorenz being followed by his ‘imprinted’ greylag geese.

  2. Konrad Lorenz. The image shows Filial Imprinting. The goslings saw Konrad first after they were born and, hence, he was the ‘mother figure’ for the goslings.

Konrad Lorenz, known for his work in imprinting. The geese think he’s their mommy.

Konrad Zacharias Lorenz. Lorenz studied instinctive behavior in animals, especially in greylag geese and jackdaws. Working with geese, he rediscovered the principle of imprinting

Konrad Lorenz. The picture shows filial imprinting wherein the greylag geese would follow Lorenz’s boots as they had imprinted on him after hatching.

Konrad Lorenz, imprinting, those ducks think he is their mother

  11. Konrad Lorenz
Lorenz is best known among biologists for his pioneering work on ‘imprinting’ in young animals

  12. Konrad Lorenz,
Is this the image that explains how he thought of “cuteness” as a scientific term?

Konrad Lorenz, this pic shows his famous concept of imprinting. In Imprinting, a young animal learns the characteristics of the parent. Here the goslings are following Lorenz’s footsteps. The goslings had imprinted on him.

  21. Konrad Lorenz and Filial Imprinting

Lorenz demonstrated how incubator-hatched geese would imprint on the first suitable moving stimulus they saw within what he called a “critical period” of about 36 hours shortly after hatching. Most famously, the goslings would imprint on Lorenz himself (more specifically, on his wading boots), and he is often depicted being followed by a gaggle of geese who had imprinted on him.

  22. Konrad Lorenz worked with Greylag geese and rediscovered imprinting in animals. (The geese think he’s their mother)

  23. Most notably, the goslings would imprint on Lorenz himself (more specifically, on his wading boots), and he is often depicted being followed by a gaggle of geese who had imprinted on him.

Konrad Lorenz and the imprinting experiment where he demonstrated that why the chick/woodpecker/duckling(just after they hatched from the egg) rescued by Jerry from Tom used to think that Jerry is their mother …. In one bizzare episode the chick/duck encountered Tom first and likewise thought that Tom is her mother
