Answer:
The Nemesis (book) is a hypothetical red dwarf star or brown dwarf, orbiting the Sun at a distance of about 50,000 to 100,000 AU (about 1-2 light years), somewhat beyond the Oort cloud. It’s supposed to be a “twin” of the earth. The star supposedly disturbs the Oort cloud which causes comets to be sent to the solar system and hence is the cause of mass extinction cycle whose period is about 26 mn years (list).
Asimov’s book Nemesis is about the hypothetical star.

1. All these are major extinction events in Earth’s history.
The ones mentioned here are also classified as the “Big Five”.
2. The Asimov book is Nemesis.
Recently a theory was put forth that a star in the oort cloud was hurling asteroids at us at regular intervals.
The star being http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nemesis_(star)
Similar to the story in the book.

Quoting wiki –
Nemesis is a hypothetical red dwarf star or brown dwarf, orbiting the Sun at a distance of about 50,000 to 100,000 AU (about 1-2 light years), somewhat beyond the Oort cloud. This star was originally postulated to exist as part of a hypothesis to explain a perceived cycle of mass extinctions in the geological record, which seem to occur once every 26 million years or so.
Asimov’s book Nemesis is about the hypothetical star.
Nice funda.

Nemesis Theory – extinction cycles could be caused by the orbit of a hypothetical companion star dubbed Nemesis that periodically disturbs the Oort cloud, sending storms of large asteroids and comets towards the Solar System.
2 is Asimov’s Nemesis. Along similar lines.

Major Extinction Events.
And Nemesis, a hypothetical red dwarf star which orbits around the Sun (hence, its judwa bhai??) was originally postulated to explain a perceived cycle of mass extinction events, which seem to occur once every 26 million years or so.
Asimov wrote the novel based on this concept.

Nemesis Theory. (supposedly a small companion star to the sun)
all of these are time periods after which meteorites emitted from the Nemesis star after it passes through the Oort cloud, collided with the earth, causing large scale damage…

NEmesis…Quoting wiki “The physicist Richard A. Muller has produced a number of speculative hypotheses for the regularity of mass extinctions. One is that the extinction cycle could be caused by the orbit of a hypothetical companion star dubbed Nemesis that periodically disturbs the Oort cloud, sending storms of large asteroids and comets towards the Solar System”

Nemesis.
The events given in 1 are all mass extinction events or biotic crisis.
The Asimov’s novel mentioned in is Nemesis. Nemesis is a hypothetical red dwarf star, orbiting the Sun somewhat beyond the Oort cloud.
One theory is that the extinction cycle could be caused by the orbit of this star that periodically disturbs the Oort cloud, sending storms of large asteroids and comets towards the Solar System.

1. Mass Extinctions
2. Asimov’s Nemesis. From Wikipedia, “Asimov created a planetary system with a Sun named Nemesis, to provide a mechanism for periodic disturbances of comets in the Oort cloud, which would then fall inwards causing mass extinctions.”

Death star hypothesis… the events are probably caused because of the dwarf star which is a dual star with our Sun. During the periods mentioned there were more comets sent into solar system hence extinction could have increased during this time. Death star is also called nemesis.

The first list represents MASS EXTINCTION EVENTS.. 2nd pic is the book NEMESIS.. and in the book nemesis’ trajectory could pose a threat to life in the solar system
