More of a prank question, really.

Group A

  • Fortran
  • Prolog
  • Simula
  • And similar people…

Group B

  • C
  • C++
    c
  • Python
  • Ruby
  • And similar people…

What does this “prove” about these languages?

(12 hrs longer, as almost usual. )

Answer:

Apparently, the secret to the success of a programming language is the amount of facial hair on its creator. See http://blogs.microsoft.co.il/blogs/tamir/archive/2008/04/28/computer-languages-and-facial-hair-take-two.aspx

    Group A : Languages where goto wasn’t introduced, or wasn’t frowned upon, and was a way of life.

    Group B : Kill goto, and its users.

    lol!
    if (facial_hair == true)
    {
    programming_language_life = HIGH;
    programming_language_popularity = HIGH;
    }

    P.S: Bjarne Stroustrup was clean shaven when he spoke about C++ 0x here in April.

    The theory that coding pwnage comes from beardage.

    Relationship between facial hair and success of computer languages…….!!!!!!!

    languages, whose founders have beards and moustaches, are more popular

  7. Relationship between facial here and computer languages by them,those having beard and mustache,their computer program is popular and those without hair loosing popularity…interesting analogy..there are few who had mustache and hairs when launched their program and it was popular and once they lost the facial hairs,the programs by them lost their popularity gradually.

    Languages whose founders sport facial hair are more successful / popular or widely used / long-running than those whose founders are clean-shaven.

    Huh? That post C you’ve to grow a beard for the language you’ve developed to become popular.I’ve no idea :(

    That the popularity and/or usefulness of a language is directly proportional to the amount of facial hair sported by its inventor at the time.

    Given the amount of Grace Hopper`s cobol still running the world, I would take the theory with a grain of salt.

    there is this interesting discussion on whether the phrase \’grow a beard\’ is even correct. you don\’t grow it, it grows by itself. what you don\’t do is shave it off. so the technically correct sentence should be \’let your beard grow\’. but thats just in the passing.
    interesting question – apparently Matsumoto let his beard grow because of the article he read.

    Facial hair makes for more popular programming languages!

  13. Mihir Rege

    Languages with inventors having beards are more succesful than their non bearded counterparts

    that the languages developed by bearded ones are more
    successful than the ones developed by neatly shaven ?

    Bwahahhahahaha.

  15. Relationship between facial hair and computer languages

  16. people with beards create better and popular programming languages.

    the entire discussion about how having a beard (or moustache) will improve the chances of success of a programming language that one develops.

    Languages developed by persons with beards become more popular than the rest.

  19. As the language gets higher version, it gets more complex.. hence the inventor doesn\’t enough time to do lot of things such as shaving!
