Question from shenoyvarun86. Thanks a lot sire!

1 did an experiment based on 2’s (in circle)  and 3’s Hypothesis. The experiment in question was done not just  by 1(who is shown with the apparatus) but with collaboration of 4(also shown with the apparatus) and hence the experiment is called “1-4” experiment. Identify the experiment and its implication. Id the people for extra cookiesa.

Answer:Quoting Rogi and Raghuvansh

1 – Stanley Lloyd Miller
2 – John Burdon Sanderson Haldane
3 – Aleksandr Ivanovich Oparin
4 – Harold Clayton Urey

Experiment – Miller-Urey.

Implication – Simulated early earth conditions and proved possibility of chemical evolution, i.e. that organic compounds could have evolved from inorganic ones.

miller-urey experiment that simulated hypothetical conditions thought at the time to be present on the early Earth, and tested for the occurrence of chemical evolution . 2 is J.B.S Haldane and 3 is Alexander Oparin . The experiment tested Soviet scientist Alexander Oparin\’s and J. B. S. Haldane\’s hypothesis that conditions on the primitive Earth favored chemical reactions that synthesized organic compounds from inorganic precursors.

That should be the *1-4 experiment*.
    Or Miller-Urey Experiment.
An attempt to spark life in a closed environment that only got as far as creating some amino acids.

    1 – Stanley Lloyd Miller
2 – John Burdon Sanderson Haldane
    3 – Aleksandr Ivanovich Oparin
    4 – Harold Clayton Urey

The Miller-Urey experiment, which simulates the primitive atmosphere to test the hypothesis that such an atmosphere was conducive for organic matter to synthesize from inorganic.

  4. The Miller-Urey experiment on the origins of life based on JBS Haldane and Alexander Oparin’s hypothesis that conditions on primitive earth prompted the evolution of organic compounds from inorganic molecules. Pix: 1) Stanley Miller, 2) JBS Haldane, 3) Alexander Oparin and 4) Harold Urey.

  5. Wiki Says –

Miller Urey Experiment – simulated hypothetical conditions thought to be present on the early Earth, and tested for the occurrence of chemical evolution. It is considered to be the classic experiment on the origin of life.

Urey-Miller experiment simulating conditions that led to formation of life on earth. I think the other two are Haldane and Oparin.

    The Miller–Urey experiment

Simulated hypothetical conditions thought at the time to be present on the early Earth, and tested for the occurrence of chemical evolution.

Experiment tested Soviet scientist Alexander Oparin’s and J. B. S. Haldane’s hypothesis that conditions on the primitive Earth favored chemical reactions that synthesized organic compounds from inorganic precursors. Considered to be the classic experiment on the origin of life, it was

Conducted in 1952 by Stanley Miller and Harold Urey at the University of Chicago.

    Ha, fond memories.
The Miller-Urey experiment, that proved the generation of organic compounds from inorganic components, under suitable ‘ancient earthy’ conditions.

and greetings from wikipedia say Messrs. Stanley Miller, Harold Urey, Alexander Oparin and J. B. S. Haldane.

    awesome qstn.

    1. Stanley Lloyd Miller
    2. J. B. S. Haldane
    3. Alexander Oparin
    4. Harold Clayton Urey

    Quoting from wiki:

The Miller-Urey experiment demonstrated that organic compounds can be created by fairly simple physical processes from inorganic substances. The experiment used conditions then thought to provide an approximate representation of those present on the primordial Earth.

Miller-Urey experiment. Specifically, the experiment tested Soviet scientist Alexander Oparin’s and J. B. S. Haldane’s hypothesis that conditions on the primitive Earth favored chemical reactions that synthesized organic compounds from inorganic precursors. Considered to be the classic experiment on the origin of life, it was conducted in 1952[1] and published in 1953 by Stanley Miller and Harold Urey at the University of Chicago.[3][4][5]

The Miller-Urey experiment, conducted by Stanley Miller (1) and Harold Urey (4), was an experiment that simulated hypothetical conditions thought to be present on the early Earth, and tested for the occurrence of chemical evolution. It tested the hypothesis of Alexander Oparin (3) and JBS Haldane (2) that conditions on the primitive Earth favoured chemical reactions that synthesized organic compounds from inorganic precursors – considered the the classic experiment on the origin of life.

    2. (in circle) JBS Haldane (shown with PC Mahalanobis)
    3. Alexander Oparin
    4. Harold Urey

The Miller-Urey experiment tested 2 and 3’s hypothesis that organic life (cells) as we know it initially evolved from inorganic matter i.e. chemical evolution.
