YHBT?
This question comes from Logik
You’ve all heard of (1), but a similar phenomenon exists elsewhere. (2) and (3) are illustrations/caricatures of this. What?

Answer:
Acoustic black holes, or dumbholes in short. Check out Logik’s answer for the whole funda.
‘Dumb Holes’, the acoustic analogue to the Black Holes?
Would it be an Acoustic Black Hole?
Black Hole.
1 is a black hole and 2/3 are references to non-gravitational black holes, ones for sound, for instance, which are called acoustic black holes?
Dumb hole? A non-gravitational acoustic black hole, that is.
Acoustic black holes
is it the Black Hole…
Non gravitational black holes?
Oh sorry, acoustic black hole
acoustic black hole
black holes and the artificially created sonic black holes.
Answering my own question…
This is called a dumb hole. analogous to the ‘black hole’. also called an “Acoustic Black hole” by the purists.
Has been recently created by a bunch of physicists in a B.E condensate condition.
non-gravitational blackholes
1. Illustration of Hawking Radiation.
2. Appears to be related to the buzz around LHC creating Micro-BlackHoles.
Connect: Acoustic or Sonic Hawking Radiation??
Used in unifying gravitational theories with quantum theories.
Black Hole
Acoustic black hole
A sonic black hole? dunno anything more catchy to call it… sound trap?
1= Black hole. 2,3 = acoustic black hole or black hole for sound
Dumb hole
