He suspended a huge 28kg pendulum from the dome of the Pantheon in Paris to prove that Earth rotated about its axis.
He successfully demonstrated the rotation of the earth.His pendulum at Paris (1851?)was the first dynamic proof of the earth’s rotation in an “easy to watch” experiment format.

Using the pendulum he demonstrated that earth rotates due to gravitational force as there is no force acting on the pendulum to make its plane of oscillation rotate or go around its own axis.
At equator, the plane of oscillation of Foucault pendulum remains fixed relative to Earth whereas at other latitudes, the plane of oscillation precesses relative to Earth, but slower than at the pole.
Léon Foucault set this up in Panthéon, Paris to demonstrate the rotation of earth.
