In 1814, Pierre-Simon Laplace envisioned Laplace’s demon which is a hypothetical “demon” which suggests if the precise location and momentum of every atom in the universe is known then it could use Newton’s laws to reveal the entire course of cosmic events, past and future.
The main character in Adam Fawer’s book ‘Improbable: A Novel’ becomes a personification of Laplace Demon who could predict the future.
