Answer: This is GM’s exhibit of a “future city of 1960″ in the 1939-40 New York World’s Fair. The whole exhibit was called Futurama. The animated series got its name from this.

    The name of the animated TV series Futurama comes from this pavilion.( as also anything with the suffix, ‘rama’)
    The TV series has made a comeback this very day in form of a full length DVD release, hence in the news!
