1 is known for inventing 2, and for his research using what you see on the table in 1.

Who is he? What is 2.

1.

2.

Everyone recognised 1, but we will give full points only to udupendra , rajeshvj , Vinod , ramsaravana , Sharath , Gammafunction , shyam , yaksha , Tathagata Chatterjee , srikanth , Abhishek , prasanth and asha who named the instrument in 2.

Update: Preetish gets it too. I blame R2D2 for the goof up :)

1. Jagadis Chandra Bose. Check this site http://www.tuc.nrao.edu/~demerson/bose/bose.html which describes his work on wireless in detail.

2. Crescograph — http://www.edsanders.com/bose/ for an in-depth coverage

This dude was indeed a genius!!

  1. udupendra Says:

    Jagadish Chandra Bose, crescograph.

    udupendra

  2. alephnull Says:

    J. C. Bose who made a sort of plant polygraph which is image 2.

  3. 2ndratequizzer Says:

    Jagish Chandra Bose (Basu)

Apparatus to measure response of plants to stimuli. pain etc

  4. rajeshvj Says:

    1. Dr. Jagadish Chandara Bose
    2. Crescograph

    rajeshvj

  5. Vinod Says:

Jagdish Chandra Bose..he apart from his inroads into mocrowaves and wireless communication, also forwarded a theory for the ascent of sap in plants in 1927, his theory contributed to the vital theory of ascent of sap. According to his theory the pumping action of the living cells in the endodermis junction were responsible for the ascent of sap in plants, which is in Pic 2

  6. Vinod Says:

I guess the Pic 2 is that of a crescograph?

  7. ramsaravana Says:

the person is J C Bose..
The instrument is a cresco graph …
    abt plants responding to stimuli…

  8. Sharath Says:

The person in Pic 1 is Sir J. C. Bose and he is known for inventing the crescograph (Pic 2) which is used for measuring growth in plants and to demonstrate how the rate of growth varies under varying stimuli.

  9. Swetha Says:

    1. Jagadish Chandra Bose
    2. Apparatus for record of movement of plants and trees

  10. Gammafunction Says:

1 is Jagadish Chandra Bose and 2 is a Crescograph. The crescograph basically measures a plant's response to stimuli.I remember this from a mention of JC Bose and his work in The autobiography of a Yogi .

  11. shyam Says:

    J C Bose & Crescograph!

    shyam

  12. yaksha Says:

    1>JC Bose
    2>Crescograph

    yaksha

  13. Tathagata Chatterjee Says:

    1) Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose
    2) Crescograph – a device for measuring that plants too respond to various stimuli if they had nervous systems like animals.
    regards,
    Tathagata Chatterjee

  14. Preetish Says:

The 1st pic is of Sir J C Bose and the 2nd pic is of a crescograph.

  15. srikanth Says:

1 = JC Bose. Research on wireless transmission?
    2 = The crescograph

    (I cheated :-/ )

  16. Abhishek Says:

    1)J C Bose2)Crescograph

  17. piezocake Says:

    William Roentgen and X-rays.

  18. prasanth Says:

The picture is that of Jagdish Chandra Bose.
the 2nd picture is his crescograph invented to show the nervous impulses in plants

  19. asha Says:

J C Bose and his crescograph
