Cracked by udupendra and nihit. Nice work!

This question, which kind of looked hard, was easily workable when approached from pic 3 to 1

3. Don Knuth’s Metafont whose version numbers approach e. The versions are 2, 2.7, 2.71, 2.718 and so on

2. Google in their 2004 IPO announced its intention to raise $2,718,281,828, which is e billion dollars. Also they had hiring billboards with references to e.

1. Andrew Jackson, he was a US president, 2 times in office, 7th president and was elected in 1828. Which perfectly fits into 2.71828, which is the value of e!

    e -> 2.71828

    3. Metafont – whose version numbers approach e
    2. Google – a) intention was to raise e billion dollars through the IPO b) their famous recruiting billboards
    1. Andrew Jackson on a 20 dollar bill – Andrew Jackson, being the 7th President, who came to power in 1828, acts as a mnemonic to remembers the digits following the decimal in the value of e

    Good question!

    I will go for a hasty guess – e billion dollars.

    1) $$$

    2) In the IPO filing for Google, in 2004, rather than a typical round-number amount of money, the company announced its intention to raise $2,718,281,828, which is e billion dollars to the nearest dollar.

    3) METAFONT has a versioning system similar to that of TeX, where the number asymptotically approaches e (2.71828 18284 59045 23536…) with each revision.

    With some, actually a lot of, guidance, I take another shot at the first pic…

    Andrew Jackson: 7th President of the USA was elected in 1828 thus combining to form 71828, the first five digits of e after the decimal point.

    I do not know which is vaguer, so still no idea if this is the “connection”… :)

    The controversy related to WTC 7…?!
