We have all studied the first man’s theory in high school physics classes. He won a Nobel prize in Physics for that.
His son (the other man) also won a Nobel prize in Physics and made his father really proud.
Identify this famous father-son pair.

Cracked by almost 20 people!
Srikanth, poo, Poornima, abhinavrm, Shashank, nihit, prabhu_dc, Bikiran Goswami, chetanjs, Keerthi, Ganesh Prasad, Sandesh, Mahesh Herle, vinayak, yaksha, Archana, udupendra, jayanth

We also see some new users. Welcome!!

I will just quote Yaksha for the answer.
“Niels and Aage Bohr.
And the theory is the Bohr’s theory.
in 1975 Aage Bohr along with other two scientists were awarded Nobel Prize in Physics, for research on the quantum mechanical description of nucleons orbiting inside an oscillating rotating droplet.

    Left: Niels Bohr.
Right: Niels Bohr’s son, also called Niels Bohr, IIRC.

Ah, but apparently, its Aage Niels Bohr.

Bad joke time… Niels Bohr ke Aage Niels Bohr? Too much uncertainty, Heisenberg ki jay ho!

  2. poo Says:

first one is Niels Bohr aahh how can we forget structure of atom.. his son Aage Niels Bohr

  3. Poornima Says:

Niels Henrik David Bohr and his son Aage Niels Bohr

  4. abhinavrm Says:

Niels Bohr and Aage Bohr . Neils received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922 and his son, Aage Bohr, received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1975.

Awesome questions guys! I really had to Google quite a bit this time.

1)Niels Bohr received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922 .
2)His son Aage Bohr received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1975.

    easy one.

    Neils Bohr and Aage Bohr

  10. Keerthi Says:

The first guy is Neils Bohr. His son Aage N. Bohr (4th son) got a noble for showing that the atomic nucleus is asymmetrical. His father won the nobel for investigations of structure of atoms and radiations emanating from them.

The father is Neils Bohr, who won the nobel prize for his services in the investigation of the structure of atoms and of the radiation emanating from them.

And the son is Aage Neils Bohr, who won the nobel prize for the discovery of the connection between collective motion and particle motion in atomic nuclei and the development of the theory of the structure of the atomic nucleus based on this connection.

    Niels and Aage Bohr.

Oh, and please turn up at Daly Hall on the 26th of August at 2 pm, for a ‘quiz for geeks’. If you are loving the questions on this site, I can assure you, you ‘ll love the quiz as well.

Oh, and also do check out kqaquizzes.livejournal.com for slightly less geeky but equally enjoyable questions.

    Cheers,
    Udupa.
